Littleport (Population 8000+)
Littleport is the third largest settlement in East Cambridgeshire and has many of the facilities that would be expected for a settlement of this size. The Town Centre was enhanced in the mid 1990’s and includes a centrally located free car park. Shopping facilities include a fair range of shops and work has started on a new supermarket due to open in the autumn 2010. The Post Office is located within the newsagents.
Littleport has a purpose built medical centre with parking, NHS Dentist and Opticians. There are two modern primary schools within the village (Millfield and Littleport Community Primary) and talks are in progress to bring backing secondary education to the Village.
Eating out offers a wide choice including various takeaways, Fish and Chip Shops, Indian Restaurants and an Anglo French Restaurant listed in the Good Food Guide.
Leisure is well catered for with a sports centre located at Camel Road and currently there are 4 children’s play areas around the village. The River Great Ouse offers boating with limited free moorings, a marina and fishing.
Transport links include a main line station – (King’s Lynn to King’s Cross) bus services to Ely and Cambridge are run at regular intervals though the week.
